Skatepark cruising

22 February 2008 by james and filed in BMX, General

Quick photo of Bruce at his local skatepark riding his Standard cruiser that is also his race bike. Not sure how Bruce feels with a 24″ bike in the bowls, however, I always feel a bit conscious of the longer rear end and worried about hitting the bowl. Perhaps I just need to work on getting a bit more air so I clear it easily. Anyway, always good to see an older guy (sorry Bruce) hitting up the ‘park.

Scott’s latest build

21 February 2008 by james and filed in BMX, General

Scott sent through a few pictures he took quickly of his latest build. Little kids bikes tend to come with crappy parts that are heavy and weak and combined with rotten graphics they just don’t look cool. As you can see from this one it has a proper stem and bars and the latest paint job with matching bars and forks. For the old-schoolers out there have a look at the Peregrine stickered chainwheel. Very cool mate.

Jumping at the track

20 February 2008 by james and filed in BMX, General

I’ve raced at the Park Orchards BMX track and it has some pretty decent jumps. The second straight could be used to hold a dirt jumping comp and the pro section down the third straight for a slightly less tame comp. The normal section of the third straight has a nice small tabletop and not much else right after it so if the landing is a bit off you have some recovery time.

Forgotten Bike Co

8 February 2008 by james and filed in BMX, General

Forgotten is co-owned by John, a good mate of mine here in Melbourne. They have put together a great range of completes at price points that everyone can afford. They are currently available Australia wide and set to take the rest of the world by storm later. The team is only small at the moment but that doesn’t mean the talent is small. Have a look at the photos I took at the Stephen Murray benefit jam and you will see a couple of them in action.

The website is up and running with more details so head over to Forgotten BMX for more information.

All the best John.
